Holiday [Heart] Challenge

Posted on December 15th, by admin in Blog, Lifestyle. 13 comments

I challenge you this holiday season to lay down your sword of criticism, punishment and blame…and [Heart] your body now.

Say what?

Yep, I challenge you to be kind to your body through all the madness that comes with this season!

We so often fall into thoughts of criticism, comparison and blame that our bodies don’t stand a chance. We participate in these thoughts of punishment more often then we like to admit and the pressure is highest at the end of the year. There’s the pressure of looking good at the holiday party. Or, the pressure of impressing the new family or in-laws, etc.

Your Amazing Body…

But, here’s the deal, your body…your AMAZING body is trying so hard to keep you healthy. That’s all she is trying to do right now. That’s all she is ever trying to do.

So, instead of hatin’ on her, how about this year you give her a little extra love?

One great way to do that is to GET YOUR HEART ON!

We all have body parts that we wish were different and those body parts we often neglect and abuse the most. Our thighs, our boo-tay, our bellies, our arms they come under attack so often inside our minds.

Pretend those body parts are you as a small child. Would you say those horrible things to that little girl? No way. You would want to wrap her in your arms and hug on her! Well, that’s what this fun & kinda silly tip will do.

All You Need…

All you need is eye-liner, an open heart and a willingness to share love with your body. Simply draw a heart on the body parts you’ve neglected or been mean to. These can be placed under clothes so they are your secret, or they can be on display for the world to see. That is up to you.

This simple act is very powerful. You will be sending zaps of love to those parts all day long.

This kind of love will help you experience the magnificence that is your body. You may even start to see her in an entirely new, beautiful way.

Wishing you a season of magic + miracles,
Amber

I’m going to try this tip today (on my belly). I’m a firm believer in this cause, which addresses a problem faced by so many women today. I recently had a major breakthrough around my attitude toward my physical body (I suddenly became conscious of how mean I was being and how wrong that was). Thanks for spreading the message!

As a mother to 2 girls this paragraph really hit home: “Pretend those body parts are you as a small child. Would you say those horrible things to that little girl? No way. You would want to wrap her in your arms and hug on her!” I’m working to establish the idea of healthy body images with both my girls. I’m going to try this tip with them.

    thank you Amber & Tina!

Ladies! I love hearing from you! Thank you so much for taking on the challenge!

@Kathleen – I’d love to hear how it goes. Wearing a heart on a different body part every day. Oh, I bet you are gonna be radiating so much self-love! And, because of your light and example, I bet the Winter Solstice participants will join in too!

@Michelle – I’m so happy to hear you had the awareness of how mean you were being to your body. That is the most important breakthrough. We we get that, we can finally open to compassion for ourselves and our bodies. All she is trying to do is take care of us, keep us alive and healthy. Thank you for sharing!

@Christie – What a wonderful example you are. The mother’s I’ve worked with tend to really make progress fast because the stakes are much higher. It becomes about something greater than you. It becomes about the example you want to be for your girls. Truly beautiful. Again, I would really love to hear your experience sharing this with them and what they take from it.

Thank you so much beautiful ladies!!!

This is something I need to hear every day of my life. At times, I’m neglectful of my own body, in the midst of taking care of others and get very burnt out while doing so. Recovery is harder and harder each time. It is better to learn to implement the types of things in this article and to be aware of warnings when over-indulgence in any thing – even self-sacrifice – is too much. Thank you.

The heart-art is a good reminder to care for ourselves. I’ll have to see how I’m going to implement this.

I’ve been increasingly aware of the amazingly awful things I say to myself. This looks like a fun idea that I can try when I’m back from vacation. Love your biz name and positioning, too.

You are right. we need to take care of ourselves more, by being really kind to ourselves, and lately, I really am kind to myself. :) I now am Vegan-about 80-90% raw, and 10-20% cooked. Now this is kindness to myself. :)
