Kris Carr + Tina Pruitt Interview – What Would You Change/Add?

September 2011

Today I am sharing a very fun and informative video interview with my friend Kris Carr, New York Times best-selling author and wellness warrior!  We talk about what each of us would recommend to CHANGE in your life and what each of us would recommend to ADD to your lifestyle. The answers are interesting, but I think you can probably all guess what the “ADD” element is – yep, it’s GREEN JUICING!

Green Juicing

It will come as no surprise to most of you that Kris and I both agree on the importance of adding green juices into your daily routine and the awesomeness it will add to your body (inside and out!)!

We also discuss – and agree – on the veggie to fruit ratio of 3:1. In other words, try to limit the fruit in your green juices to no more than one piece – like a pear or an apple. Once you have juiced for a while, you can even let this go if you like – I do all green and love it!

The Books You Need to Get Now!

We also talk about her awesome book, Crazy Sexy Diet! Get the book now to (as Kris says) learn more about how to “stay well, feel well, be well, and have a heck of a lot of fun doing it.”

You also want to pick up a copy of my juicing book, Juice Yourself Healthy, for lots (and lots) of tips on green juicing – everyday stuff, travel stuff, equipment stuff + more! There are also fantastic green juice recipes and mixed green juice recipes (with fruit)!

So, take a peek at the below video and leave your comments below! xo

Wow, I love this! Amazing I might become a juice girl after all. Thank you for sharing all of your great vibes.

Tina: this is great. I have Kris’s book and have been thinking of juicing in the morning rather than turning to coffee. (I know, I know…) My husband swears by juicing and keeps trying to get me on board. But I agree with both of you: sleep and changing your mind are 2 incredible tools to changing your life around. Great post, Tina!

    Tina,

Thanks for sharing this gem. I love the mellow yet passionate vibe of the interview. I’ve started bringing my mason jar full of green juice to my morning classes, and the students are totally fascinated. In fact, some of them have asked to try some. Of course, I’ve indulged them. Keep up the awesome work!

Wooo-hoooo for sleep! I learned the importance of getting my nightly 8 hours when I was in college. I got better grades by sleeping more and studying less. I also was sure to fit in exercise and meditation. The more I focused on taking care of myself, the better my grades got. And I know the same is true for my business now.

Thanks for sharing all of the juicy green details, Tina and Kris!

I am obsessed with the amount of sleep I get. If it gets close to less than 8 hours, I obsess about how many hours and minutes I get if I fall asleep RIGHT THEN. It’s good to know I’m justified in being nuts about it. LOL

I love this book! I agree totally on the low-glycemic aspect. I am just experimenting with green juice. I started by adding spinach to my protein shakes. After I read Crazy Sexy Diet I bought a juicer. It has been sitting in the box for a few months. I finally got it out last week and mad a green juice that I really liked. I think I need to adjust it a little bit, leave out the parsley and some of the celery because I am not a fan of either, but I really liked it otherwise. I also made my own V8 juice from some organic tomatoes I bought at the farmers market. It was really yummy. I could totally get used to juicing, especially green juice. ;-)

“My love letter to the world” Kris says….I LOVE it. I am a huge Kris fan already so hard to go wrong with this one for me….She’s so inspiring. I tell everyone about her, especially those with health challenges…Thanks for giving us a dose of the two of you together….Dynamic Duo!

Precious sleep! It has been my medicine, my counsel and the doorway to creativity my whole life. When I disrespect that delicate balance, my life shifts. Thankfully, I’m remember quickly and find ways to bring back peaceful sleep into my life. Even if it means earplugs, eye masks and blackout blinds.

Sleep, plenty of greens and advice from the dynamic duo! Thanks for the reminders. ~ Loralee

What a sweet conversation between two friends, I feel like I was just invited to join in a private conversation! ‘Change your mind’ is super wise, especially as related to food/lifestyle improving initiatives. It really isn’t that hard! I too bought ‘Crazy Sexy Diet’ first, then bought a juicer, then took several fearful (of what?!) weeks to open the box. But I’ll never look back… I loooooooove my green juice! And I’m ready for more recipes so looks like your book is next on my shopping list. Thank you!

Could not agree more on the sleep (although today finds me lacking…and drinking Starbucks)…so apparently this is exactly what I needed to hear today!

Have been hemming and hawing on getting the book…this is just the push I needed. Thanks!

This is the main thing I notice I need to stay clear and focused and not eating badly. When I have enough sleep I am feeling good. And Tina – I am getting the hint… Green juicing! Thanks for the inspiring post!

Yay Tina! Thanks for this beautiful interview. I posted on my FB page. I think that is so important for us to change our mind – making a new choice, a new decision.

For me, the thing I would change is: get rid of sugar. The thing I would add is: more greens.

  21. Scott Powers, September 2011

Very cool! I have heard a lot about Kris and I believe that was my first video introduction to her. I felt like you were talking right to me when suggesting on getting more sleep. I’ve always been a productive night owl, but it can catch up to me fast…and this week I’m definitely getting my ass handed to me in that department! When I’m rested, not only am I more efficent and productive, but I make better decisions about what I put in my body. I’m glad you brought this up as something to be aware of.
Loved all the laughs and smiles in this video!

Thanks for the reminder of sleep, Tina! I get up at 4:30 to meditate then exercise with my girlfriends and our dogs, which has been an amazing ADD to my life, but I need to be sure to hit the hay early enough.

Change your mind! That’s what I decided to do after reading crazy sexy diet, change the way I view food; what an amazing shift. If I can do it…anyone can. :)
I’m going to check out Kris’ workshop at Kripalu right now!
